Incredible Edible plants first community plots

Following the success of the herb bed planted at Waitrose, an incredible collection of volunteers turned out to transform the overgrown and weatherworn planters outside Wildings, into bright and edible sites.

Nick, Mark and David from the Lifestyle Group at the Leisure Centre, started the hard work by clearing two of the planters at the start of the week, ready for more volunteers to get going at the weekend - team work across the town.

Susan Moore, PR Manager at Sainsburys joined the team on her day off. She was there as a community spirited resident but as incredible 'spreadable' has a way of growing... Sainsburys will be getting involved in Incredible Edible's future growing around town.

William Hale, representative of Wilmslow High School's Green Team, came along bringing his mum Alison with him to get stuck in. The youngest volunteers were Oliver Jones, not yet 5, and his brother Cameron who were the most brilliant painters.

The volunteers dug, swept, cleaned, planted and painted and now they just have to wait until it all grows to its full potential ready for the town to tuck in!

You can join in with more planting going on outside the library, where staff from the Sainsbury's team will also be getting involved.

Later in the year, more planting will be started at Wilmslow Railway Station, where Incredible Edible will be joining forces with the newly forming Friends of Wilmslow Station, to make the gateway to our town a place of edible beauty and unite Wilmslow with a strong sense of community spirit between business, volunteers and learning.
