Thyme to grow

DSC_0537

Waitrose store have embraced local action and opened up their outdoor planter for Incredible Edible to garden.

The circular planter outside the store front is now home to a selection of fragrant smelling herbs for everyone to smell, taste and enjoy. Add some rosemary to your lamb, sage to your stuffing or mint to your mojito!

The aim is to encourage fresh, seasonal produce, grown on your doorstep and to show how little space is needed to do this. No packaging, no air miles, and no cost to you, now that is fresh!

As more plots pop up across the town, more volunteers will be needed. To get involved you could add your favourite edible plant as you pass for others to share, simply pluck out a weed or have a nibble as you pass.

Incredible Edible is for everyone, whether you garden the plots, organise an event or simply eat what’s there, everything and everyone is very welcome.

This small plot has included; plants from Ned Yates Garden Centre and Styal Quarry Bank, involvement from Waitrose, both at national and local level, and the dedication of local people. Such a small space can join together such a lot of people to work towards a bigger goal.
