Results of the 2011 Wilmslow Half Marathon

The winner of the 27th ASICS Wilmslow Half Marathon, which took place this morning, Sunday 27th March, was Jean Ndayisenga from Birchfield Harriers with a winning time of 64 minutes and 24 seconds.

Zak Kihara, his team mate from Birchfield Harriers, was second to complete the 13.1 mile course in a time of 65 minutes and 36 seconds, closely followed by Nick Swinburn from Morpeth Harriers in 65 minutes and 45 seconds.

Rob Downs was the first person to complete the half marathon from Wilmslow Running Club, finishing in 40th place in a time of 74 minutes and 11 seconds.

Julie Briscoe from Wakefield Harriers won the women's race, recording a time of 73 minutes 29 seconds which we understand secured her a place in the England team.

In second place was Olivia Walwyn from Altrincham District AC in a time of 76 minutes and 30 seconds and the third women to complete the course was Jo Buckley from Bingley Harriers in 79 minutes 49 seconds.

The 2011 Wilmslow Half Marathon incorporated the England Half Marathon Championships for the 3rd consecutive year and attracted some of the country's elite runners alongside thousands of locals. 3800 runners completed this huge fundraising event, many of whom pounded the streets of Mobberley and Wilmslow to raise money for their chosen charity.

The official charity for the 2011 Wilmslow Half Marathon was Macmillan Cancer Support.
