Wilmslow traders enjoy flipping good time

Representatives from businesses along Alderley Road took part in a pancake race this morning all in aid of a bit of fun.

Four contestants competed in each heat, with the object of the race being to get to the finishing line first, having flipped a pancake in a frying pan 5 times.

The competition was organised by Steve Morris, Manager at Sainsburys, who said "I just wanted to have some fun on Pancake Day, the last day before we give things up for Lent.

"I also thought we'd get some preparation in, ahead of the Space Hopper Race which we will be holding for Comic Relief."

The winners of the heats competed in a closely fought final which saw local stylist Paul Quinn, of Harper and Quinn, cross the finishing line just ahead of Chris Prince from Imagine FM.

Having been presented with his pancake mix, strawberry sauce and a bottle of champagne, Paul Quinn said "It was a good laugh. It was a local thing and it's good to be involved in as much local camaraderie as possible."
