Three of our top local chefs will be visiting Gorsey Bank Primary School in March. They will be hosting cooking workshops to show how to prepare dishes for all the family.
Firstly, award-winning chef Chris Holland, from The Alderley Edge Hotel, will be demonstrating seasonal cooking for all the family. The following week, Heddy Ghazizadeh, owner of Heddy's on Water Lane and Stay Bar and Restaurant in Alderley Edge, will be demonstrating Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cooking. Then Steve and May from Chilli Banana will host the third workshop, demonstrating how to cook traditional Thai food.
These community events has been organised by Anya Murray, of the School Food Company, and the Food for Life Partnership, of which Gorsey Bank is a flagship school. Anya delivers the school's meals service and has been made a Local Leader of Food Culture by the Food for Life Partnership, which is an action framework and award scheme to help schools, caterers and communities transform their food culture.
Anya said "By organising the Cooking Workshops at school we are aiming to improve community links. Our goal is to make our school the hub of good food culture in our local community, actively involving parents and community groups in cooking activities.
"The brief for the chefs at each workshop is seasonal food that can be made for the whole family to cook and enjoy. Each chef is responsible for their own workshop and we are looking forward to seeing their interpretation of the same theme. I have offered to organise this event for the school in my role as Leader of Food Culture and as a parent at the school. All money made will be used to enhance and support the children's cooking and growing activities at Gorsey Bank Primary School."
The workshops will take place on March 7th, 14th and 21st between 7pm and 8.30pm. Tickets are £5 and available from Gorsey Bank Primary School.
