Estate Agent raises £9,000 for The Christie

Gascoigne Halman cheque presentation

In a fun-packed year of fundraising, Gascoigne Halman has raised an impressive £9,079 for The Christie charity thanks to the generous support of its staff and the local community.

John Halman, Managing director of Gascoigne Halman, along with team members Stephanie Leech, Nicola Coppock and Charles Guest were on hand to present a cheque to The Christie's Head of Corporate Fundraising, Gerald Deslandes at the cancer centre last month.

The charity raises money to fund cancer research, high-tech equipment, new developments and extra services for cancer patients at The Christie. Supporters help Christie experts make a difference to cancer patients, both now and in the future.

During their year of fundraising, employees at Gascoigne Halman's 17 offices across Cheshire, south Manchester and the High Peak, worked together to take part in a variety of fundraising events.

The first event was a prison prank when John Halman, along with other business leaders from the area, was locked up at the Police Museum Prison in Manchester. By approaching business contacts, friends and families John had to raise the bail to be released.

This was followed by a 'bakethon' when staff baked cakes, cookies and muffins, dishing them out to prospective home buyers and sellers and anyone passing by their offices, which proved an extremely popular event.

More recently Gascoigne Halman put together a team of 19 to take part in the 'Alderley Edge and Nether Alderley Bypass Run and Walk'.

In addition, throughout the year Christie collection boxes were positioned at each of Gascoigne Halman's offices raising further valuable funds.

Commenting on the team's fundraising efforts, John Halman said: "The Christie has a fantastic reputation for treatment and patient care and we are proud to have given our support to such a worthwhile cause.

"As I hoped, our staff really pulled out all the stops to raise this amazing amount and I was extremely proud to meet with Gerald along with some of our team to hand over the cheque."

Gascoigne Halman has supported a number of charities over the years including Children in Need, The Together Trust and The Children's Adventure Farm Trust. Their most recent year of fundraising was for The David Lewis Centre when they raised almost £23,000 for the Cheshire-based charity.
