Police investigate arson on Snapebrook Grove

At 3.40am this morning, Wednesday 16th February, Police and other emergency services were called to a house fire where three people were trapped in a first floor bedroom on Snapebrook Grove in Wilmslow.

Three fire appliances were ordered to the scene and four firefighters in breathing apparatus entered the property using one hose reel to extinguish the fire, whilst other firefighters pitched a 7 metre ladder to the first floor window.

Two male casualties were rescued by ladder from the first floor window and one female was rescued by a Breathing Apparatus team. The three occupants of the house fortunately escaped from the fire with minor cuts and bruises.

Significant fire and smoke damage was caused to the ground floor of the property. Whilst the main fire was confined to the hallway of the end of terraced property, the whole house, including the bedroom where the casualties were trapped, was fully smoke logged. There was no requirement for an evacuation of surrounding houses.

The cause of the fire is being treated as suspicious and Police are keen to speak to any witnesses, or anyone who may have information in relation to this incident, to contact Wilmslow CID on 0845 458 0000 or alternatively information may be left anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
