The Governors of Lacey Green Primary School have agreed to accept an invitation from the Secretary of State to proceed with their application for the school to convert to academy status from September 2011.

The invitation came as a result of the school being rated "Outstanding" by Ofsted and will mean that Lacey Green is the first state school in the Wilmslow area to make the switch.

The School Governors, after extensive discussions over a 6 month period, approved the change at their meeting on 19th January 2011 and a consultation period with all stakeholders is currently being undertaken.

Lorraine Dooley, Headteacher said "This is a real opportunity to continue and develop the excellent work that goes on in school and keep our school at the forefront of educational developments. This is an exciting new chapter for the school and we look forward to continuing to provide an outstanding education for our children".

The conversion programme will be supported by J&G Marshall Limited, a specialist company based in Altrincham who has successfully supported the conversion process for a number of schools in the North West.
