Cheeky Girl cautioned for shop lifting in Wilmslow

Cheeky Girl Gabriela Irimia was stopped by security staff on suspicion of shoplifting at Sainsbury's in Wilmslow yesterday afternoon.

Police were called to the store on Alderley Road where the pop idol star was spotted leaving without paying for her groceries.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said "At just before 2pm on Friday 7th January, Cheshire Police were called to a supermarket on Alderley Road, Wilmslow after a 26 year old woman from Essex was detained on suspicion of theft of grocery items.

"The woman was interviewed by Police as part of the investigation into the circumstances of the incident and subsequently given a caution for theft."

Gabriela Irimia has been dating Alderley Edge businessman Nicholas Zapolski since they met in August 2008 whilst on holiday in Marbella and has been a regular visitor to the area since.

The Romanian born pop star was previously engaged to ex-Liberal Democrat MP and I'm A Celebrity star Lembit Opik, and shot to fame after appearing in the reality TV show Popstars: The Rivals with her twin sister Monica. They achieved success in the charts with four top ten hits between 2002 and 2004 and are best known for their debut single, "Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum)", which has sold over 1.2 million copies worldwide.
