Residents are being invited to share their views on Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service's plans for the future.

The Service is carrying out a public consultation having launched a draft version of its Integrated Risk Management Plan (IRMP) for 2011/12. This annual action plan sets out how Cheshire Fire Authority intends to address some of the challenges it will face in the coming year.

Cllr David Topping, the Chair of the Fire Authority, said: "I would encourage residents to get involved with this consultation and share your views about the direction of the Service. The feedback you provide really helps us to shape the future of your fire and rescue service."

The IRMP for 2011/12, which will contribute to the Service's aim of saving £2.5m over the next two years, also includes proposals to; review certain business functions of Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service to ensure they continue to deliver value for money, to provide more of a focus on the promotion of road safety and to target community safety work at the most vulnerable people.

Paul Hancock, Chief Fire Officer for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, explained: "We, like many other public services, are facing some difficult times ahead. Although we have already made a number of efficiencies we believe that there is still more we can do to save funds while maintaining a strong focus on both the safety of our communities and our firefighters."

Residents can view the draft plan and complete an online survey by visiting the Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service's website. Alternatively, a paper copy of the draft plan and survey can be requested from the Service's Corporate Communications Department on 01606 868408.

They are also holding a series of community roadshows throughout Cheshire in January and February and will be at Sainsbury's car park, Wilmslow on Friday February 4th from 10am-2pm.
