You may have noticed that the Old Rectory in Wilmslow is undergoing some changes. In fact, the pub is being transformed into a Miller & Carter Steakhouse which will open on Monday, 13th December.

To celebrate people in Wilmslow are being given the opportunity to attend a VIP launch party ahead of the opening of new steakhouse restaurant on Station Road.

Diane McInerney, said: "We can't wait to open the doors of our new Miller & Carter, so we've decided to let people have a sneak preview by hosting a party on Saturday, 11th December.

"We're very proud of our offer and we want to showcase our new restaurant as soon as possible and let the people of Wilmslow experience what Miller & Carter is all about.

"Our new steakhouse has a stylish yet informal setting, perfect for experiencing the expertise of the restaurant's talented chefs.

"Our steaks are directly sourced from a select number of hand-picked West Country farms and prepared to exacting standards by master butchers. Few dishes demand such excellent raw material as steak, which is why we place such importance in knowing our farmers and butchers."

At the event there will be champagne and canapés, as well as the chance to enjoy a complimentary drink or two. Guests will also be able to sample a selection of tasters from the menu, giving them the opportunity to explore and experience the new steakhouse for the first time.

Anyone who would like to attend the opening party should register by emailing [email protected] or by calling 07825 442 609.

It will always be the Old Rectory - why a perfectly good and popular pub should be transformed into a horrible branded emporium which worships such an unhealthy food as steak is beyond me- !

I am sure the good people of Wilmslow will recognise this for what it is- a horrible money making enterprise that adds nothing to the excellent gastronomic options in Wilmslow and will be unable to sustain itself- and we will have the Old Rectory back as quickly as you can say mad cow's disease!!

I disagree. I have been to a couple of Miller & Carters in the past and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The steak was excellent quality and the service good too. I think Wilmslow needs a decent steakhouse and besides The Old Rectory was branded as an Ember Inn. I don’t see the difference.

I wrote my comment before the steakhouse opened. Having now visited it I take it all back. The food was excellent and the way it has been refurbished first rate. Very friendly and well trained staff and stylish decor. I do still think, however, it should have been called Miller and Carters at the Old Rectory as it will always be the Old Rectory – and maybe this is something they will consider?.
