Lloyd Daniels lights up Wilmslow

Despite the freezing temperatures, crowds gathered on Grove Street this evening to see last year's X Factor finalist Lloyd Daniels switch on Wilmslow's Christmas lights.

The entertainment kicked off at 2pm today with Imagine FM broadcasting live from Grove Street. Paul Taylor and his team from Imagine FM put together a fantastic line up of family entertainment which included Wilmslow High School 6 String Ensemble, Pownall Junior School Choir, Lacey Green Primary School Choir, Girl band P5 and the Rock Choir.

The highlight of the evening though was Lloyd Daniels who sang live for the crowd before switching on the Christmas lights with the help of Council Leader Wesley Fitzgerald and Father Christmas.

Councillor Fitzgerald said "This has been a great evening, in fact I think it has been the best in memory.

"This did not happen by itself, a lot of people have put in a lot of effort and particular thanks go to Wilmslow Business Group and Denise Valente who has been organising this all year."

The four day Wilmslow Christmas Festival continues until Sunday with the Christmas market, ice-skating rink on Banks Square and Santa's Grotto in the Romany Caravan.
