High school prepares to rock you

Wilmslow High School are gearing up for their production of We Will Rock You which promises to be a highly professional show, with over sixty students performing a high octane musical that is full of energy, vigour and excitement.

The show will see students, aged 11 to 18, working in all aspects of the performing arts, from playing in the live band, dancing, acting and singing.

Jeremy Frost, Production Director, said "It's not your usual school production. With the present climate of shows, like X-Factor and Britain's Got Talent, rock bands and music are back at the forefront of musical culture. The students have been able to adapt to the style and some have taken a massive challenging risk to approach dance for the first time.

"Rehearsals started in September, and every night a rehearsal has been happening for at least one element of the production. We are picking up the pace now with less than 2 weeks to go - edging towards 8pm a night now."

Speaking to one of the participating students about how they thought it would go, she said "It's like creating a rock concert through theatre; noisy, exciting and leaving you wanting more."

Wilmslow High School's production of We Will Rock You takes place from Thursday, 25th November until Saturday, 27th November. Tickets are priced at £8 for adults, and £5 for children (except for the matinee which will be £5 and £3 respectively). Each production will be limited to 300 seats, and there will be programmes and refreshments available during the interval.

Performances times are: Thursday and Friday at 7pm, Saturday 2pm and 7.30pm.
