Christmas Tree Festival will celebrate the arts

This year the Wilmslow Christmas Tree Festival is being organised by Wilmslow Methodist Church and they are doing things slightly differently. It will still have at its heart the magic of lots of decorated trees, but the festival will also celebrate the arts.

New for this year there will be the opportunity for photographers, artists, flower arrangers, community groups and schools to show what they can do and there will be space for musicians, singers, actors and film makers to perform. All of which will be centred around the theme "The Spirit of Christmas".

There will also be a fun competition "Christmas on a Cupcake", where people are being invited to enter a festive cupcake they have decorated. Prizes will be awarded for the best in each age group, under 5's, under 11's, under 18's and adults - the judging will take place on the Friday by a professional cupcake baker.

The Wilmslow Christmas Tree Festival will take place from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th December and the final event will be "Carols round the Trees", at 6:30pm on the Sunday evening.

Rev. Richard Lowson said "We would love local people to get involved. It really promises to be a great community event but we can not do it without people's support. All proceeds from the weekend will go to a chosen charity.

"If you, or your group, can provide a decorated 5/6ft around the theme "The Spirit of Christmas", provide a piece of art, a photograph (framed or digital), floral table arrangement or decorate a cupcake then the church would be delighted to hear from you."
