A burglary occurred in the Donkey Lane area of Wilmslow during yesterday, October 20th. It happened during the day when a lounge window was forced open and jewellery was stolen from within the property.

Sergeant Simon Mills said "There have been a number of burglaries this month in the Wilmslow and Alderley Edge area. Pre-dominantly the burglaries have occurred during the daytime hours, although some have happened overnight.

"It is imperative that people secure their property when going out or going to bed - despite our continued reminder to people to secure their property and vehicles, a large proportion of crimes are still taking place in unlocked houses with open windows or in unlocked cars.

"If you have a house alarm please ensure that you use it and take every preventative step to secure your belongings - do not leave things in open view as this may attract attention.

"As the nights are now drawing in and the clocks are about to go back properties can easily look unoccupied and vulnerable - using timer switches and pulling curtains are very basic steps that can stop your premises looking empty and help prevent it potentially being targeted.

"If anybody has information regarding these crimes please ensure that you report it to the Police - if you see anything that you think is suspicious please remain vigilant and ensure that you report it."
