The Big Draw at Wilmslow Leisure Centre

Big Draw

Leisure centre users across Cheshire East are being encouraged to express their love of sport through art this weekend on The Big Draw Day 2010.

On Saturday, October 9th, a professional artist will be based at Wilmslow Leisure Centres helping sport and art lovers alike to make a special piece of community art.

Environmental artist Lesley Martin and members of Cheshire Dance will create a piece of art using your 'footfall'.

The Big Draw is an international initiative that was set up in 2000 and the event has been organised by Cheshire East's Arts, Heritage and Museums service working in partnership with the leisure service. The aim is to get people drawing in museums, art galleries and any community venues in new and enjoyable ways.

Councillor Andrew Knowles, Cabinet member with responsibility for health and wellbeing, said: "This is a really exciting project and I hope as many people as possible will visit the leisure centre and take part.

"The artists have come up with some really original ideas and I am sure that they will result in some memorable pieces.

"Hopefully, this will introduce lovers of sport to art and vice versa."

The event is free and people are encouraged to along between 10am and 4pm to take part.
