The Wilmslow Business Group have confirmed that their plans for a four day Christmas extravaganza featuring a Continental Christmas Market, ice-skating rink, Santa's Grotto and street entertainers are definitely going ahead.

The Christmas market will be held over 4 days from Thursday 25th November until Sunday 28th November. In July we reported that stalls would be located on the Alderley Road slip road, from Sainsbury's to the new Joules clothing shop, but we can now confirm that a second location has been added and more stalls will be located on Parsonage Green, between Little Nut Tree Toys and Yang's Oriental Restaurant.

There will be 40 stalls selling a range of gifts, crafts and foods from European cheeses to Belgium chocolates, Italian wines to German bratwurst and French oils, characuterie, perfume and handmade soaps to Polish jewellery - providing a totally continental market, encompassing the flavours and delicacies from the European Union.

Denise Valente, Editor and Proprietor of Compass Magazine, told the Wilmslow Business Group on Monday that "The Christmas Market is now confirmed. We are using one of the top companies with over 10 years of experience and they put the entire event together. The Continental Market will bring energy and atmosphere to the town to support local businesses and encourage people to come to Wilmslow to do their christmas shopping.

"For the duration of the market we will also have an ice skating rink on Bank Square, a Winter Wonderland Grotto which Hoopers have kindly volunteered to arrange and a whole host of street entertainment. On the Friday evening the Christmas lights will be switched on by Imagine FM with celebrity guests and we are hoping to organise additional events throughout December in the run up to Christmas."

Steve Morris, Manager of Sainsbury's and Chairman of Wilmslow Business Group, added "We will also be approaching those local businesses which have holders on their buildings to see if they are prepared to put new Christmas Trees in them."

Wilmslow businesses who are interested in getting involved in the town's christmas celebrations, or require further information can email Denise. Denise added "We look forward to hearing from anyone wishing to get involved and very much welcome your ideas."
