The Wilmslow Business Group are planning well ahead this year, with preparations for Wilmslow's Christmas festivities already well under way. For the first time there will be a continental Christmas market in the town, held over 4 days from Thursday 25th November until Sunday 28th November and located on the Alderley Road slip road, outside Sainsbury's.

There will be up to 40 stalls selling a range of gifts, crafts and foods from European cheeses to Belgium chocolates, Italian wines to German bratwurst and French oils, characuterie, perfume and handmade soaps to Polish jewellery - providing a totally continental market, encompassing the flavours and delicacies from the European Union.

Denise Valente, Editor and Proprietor of Compass Magazine, told the Wilmslow Business Group "The plans are already well under way. The Continental Market will bring energy and atmosphere to the town and support local businesses. We have submitted a request for funding to Cheshire East and in addition to the market we are also planning to have an ice-rink in Bank Square and on the Friday evening the Christmas lights will be switched on by Imagine FM.

Shar Norton from The Continental Market said "The purpose of our market is to involve the entire area in generating the flow through of potential purchasers that often do not enter town centres, choosing instead to shop in convenience areas outside of towns."
