A young entrepreneur from Wilmslow is celebrating after announcing that her company is to be sponsored by the UK’s biggest manufacturer of sewing machines.

Rachel Murray from Park Road, along with her colleague Caz Moss from Runcorn set up Neon Prospects in April after being made redundant and are delighted that Janome UK will be sponsoring all of their ‘Style Factory’ workshops - courses that give teenagers an overview of the fashion industry and teach them key sewing skills.

The company, who’s head office is based in Stockport, were blown away by the girl’s enthusiasm and passion for educating youngsters and jumped at the chance to be involved.

Deborah Shepherd, Brand Manager for Janome UK: “When Caz & Rachel approached us to support the Style Factory we recognised their focus was to give a real opportunity to support activities which would unleash young people’s creativity and encourage skills which they could draw on for the rest of their lives to help them to fulfill their potential".

Neon Prospects aims to make the media and fashion industries more accessible to young people Through educational workshops run by industry professionals either in school time or as extracurricular activities. Neon look to raise kid's aspirations, boost self esteem and confidence and give the next generation a real insight into these industries.

Both women bring over a decade’s worth of experience in the fashion and media industries and are extremely passionate about giving something back to the community.

Director Rachel Murray said: “It’s so important that kids today learn how to relate what they learn in the classroom to the real world and that’s where we come in. We bring in experts from the industry to speak to youngsters about careers in these areas, and also give them a taste of what it’s like. It’s a great way to get kids thinking about the future, but also have lots of fun at the same time."
