Preparations are in the final stages for the 2010 Cheshire County Show where over 80,000 visitors are set to enjoy the two-day extravaganza. With its roots firmly in our county’s agricultural heritage, the Cheshire County Show is all about appreciating the fabulous sights, characters and flavours of Cheshire.

Visitors will be in good company at the show on Tuesday June 22nd and Wednesday 23rd, with guests including Charles Collingwood and Judy Bennett, stars of hit BBC radio soap The Archers. There will also be the most important attractions of all, hundreds of cattle, sheep, goats, pigs and rare breed livestock competing for coveted titles.

The Sainsbury's Agri-Centre will be keeping the show’s agricultural heritage alive with its theme of 'Plough to Plate', where the unsung heroes of our county’s farming community demonstrate the methods used to get milk, cheese, meat and other foodstuffs on to supermarket shelves. A trip to the Roberts Bakery Food Hall and Food Live Theatre will also be a must to sample the hundreds of tasty treats on offer.

Other attractions include a large equestrian section, the Cheshire Federations of Women's Institutes marquee, which is home to the craft classes, bird of prey flying displays, clay pigeon shooting and new for this year, live music from The Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas.

Major Wayne Hopla, from the Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas, said: "We try to provide a show that caters for every taste and as well as western style music we will also be performing a lot of ethnic Nepali folk tunes as well as colourful traditional dance routines.”

Young children will be entertained by a traditional fun fair whilst visitors of all ages will enjoy the The Meirion Owen's Quack Pack duck herding demonstration, the Bolddog motorcycle stunt display and the dog show which attracts over 2000 entries.

Advanced tickets are available until June 11th by calling 0845 124 98 22 or for more information visit the website

Nigel Evans, Executive Director of the Cheshire Show, said: "We always like to offer people coming to the show the chance to experience the high life and this year we will be going one step further with this exciting competition.”
