Sainsbury’s seek nominations for Charity of the Year

Sainsburys in Wilmslow are currently searching for a local charity to work with over the next 12 months, so if you know of any which could do with some extra support over the next year then your suggestion could really make a difference.

Steve Morris, Manager at Sainsburys said "We have just finished working with Mid Cheshire Riding for the Disabled Group, in addition to raising over £5000 for the charity we helped them out by assisting on site, supporting their functions and participating in the world's biggest riding lesson."

Steve Morris added "Even big old me got on the back of a horse!"

Sainsbury's Charity of the Year was introduced last year but historically they have worked with the Animal Sanctuary by raising their profile and money, as well as volunteering their services on days off and, through the generosity of their customers, Sainsbury's donates enough pet food during the year that the sanctuary probably doesn't have to buy any.

Steve Morris said "We still support other charities throughout the year but we will work more closely with the Charity of the Year."

If you would like to nominate a local charity for Sainsburys to support then all you need to do is visit the store on Alderley Road between now and May 19th, complete a form and post it in the box provided. The recommendations will then be whittled down to three charities who will be invited to come in and pitch to the Sainsburys' Colleague Council about why they should be chosen.

Sainsbury's will make a decision regarding their new partner by June 6th.
