High school celebrates excellence

Awards 2

Wilmslow High School recently celebrated excellence at their annual Key Stage 4 and Sixth Form Presentation Evening.

The event was hosted at the Royal London Assurance Company in Wilmslow and students were awarded prizes for progress in all curriculum areas.

In a school of over 2000 students to achieve such an accolade is no mean feat so the recipients of the awards are all to be highly congratulated on their achievements.

In addition there were a number of special awards for outstanding contributions to the school. These were awarded to Nathan Budd and Jack Johnson jointly for Year 10, Lauren Nuttall for Year 11, Asra Shakoor for Year 12 and Alexandra Gilbody for Year 13.

A number of sports awards were presented to Henry Baker, Robert Herriott and Georgina Scott for Key Stage 5 and Megan Lane, Ethan Harding and Harriet Graham at Key Stage 4 level.

Anna Peate was awarded the Mills Award for Food Technology, Charlie Holland received the Joanne Fielding Award for Music and the final award of the evening was the Paul Murray Memorial Award, for Humanities, which was presented to Andrew Bennison.

The evening was very well attended by proud parents and members of staff who were treated to a very high standard of musical performances from Sandy Clarke, Charlie Holland and Ben Turner.

Headteacher, Mrs Gill Bremner commented “ ‘education, education, education’ was the mantra in 1997 and its no less relevant today: all young people at Wilmslow High School have wonderful opportunities to achieve across a wide range of subjects and activities and we were delighted to be able to celebrate some of those successes at Royal London.

"It would take more than one evening to celebrate all of our students’ achievements and there are more presentation evenings to come. As always my thanks go to the staff and parents for their hard work, commitment and support.”
