Starting next week something new is happening in Wilmslow, the local toy shop, Little Nut Tree Toys, is running its first ever event for Tots & Toddlers, aged 18 months to 3 years olds.
Held in the shop itself, Jo and her team will be entertaining little ones with a range of artistic, gardening and active events. Other local businesses will be getting involved as well including Wilmslow Football Academy run by Erik Garner and Simon Dunn Chocolatiers.
This has been a fantastic way for Jo to meet and work with other local businesses and engage in her own business community which has led to much wider event planning.
Jo explained "Toy shops are for having fun, and getting kids to engage with what's around them. What has become increasingly clear is that parents and carers of kids often walk into the shop on eggshells, concerned about what damage and mayhem will ensue once their kids are let loose.
"However, we actively encourage kids to engage with the toys and enjoy themselves, and we feel these events will just help everyone relax and feel at home in the shop. We love to have fun and those customers who know us will hopefully back us up on this - we really are happy for kids to play.
"We're going to run the events through school holidays as well. So often clubs for kids stop over the holidays which is when parents and carers need them most.
"I will of course have a strong coffee at 10.25 to see me through the hour and a half of play and activities, but we're only here once and I really want my toy shop to be one of those experiences that stays with kids. A place where they feel welcome, happy and free to play.
"Our first event, next Wednesday, May 5th, is simply to make paper plate suns, simply may be a bit of an overstatement and we would ask carers to come prepared to get hands on!"
Little Nut Tree Toys are also supplying healthy snacks and drinks at the end of each 30 minute session. The 30 minute play slots are 10.30 - 11.00 / 11.00 - 11.30 / 11.30 - 12.00.
There can only be a maximum of 10 kids per session so if you are interested in attending you can just turn up or alternatively you can book your little one in by popping into the shop or calling 01625 525382.
