Honoured pantomime hero lights up Wilmslow

Cheshire Youth Pantomime Society (CHYPS) director Sally Hunt set off the children's firework display at a Wilmslow firework display on 5th November, to mark her being declared a "Local Hero" by Wilmslow Round Table.

Sally co-founded CHYPS (Cheshire Youth Pantomime Society), which has been putting on pantomimes for the people of Wilmslow since 2007, and was recognised for her work in providing theatrical opportunities to the young people of Wilmslow and the surrounding area.

At the Wilmslow Round Table Bonfire, which attracted a crowd of around 7500 people, Sally pushed the plunger to set off the children's fireworks display. The event also saw members of the CHYPS cast singing a selection of songs from the shows, to promote their forthcoming production of Beauty and the Beast, at the Evans Theatre, Wilmslow Leisure Centre from 4th to 8th January 2023.

CHYPS Director Sally Hunt said, "It was a real honour to set off the children's firework display at the Wilmslow Round Table Bonfire, and a wonderful way to highlight what I know will be another fantastic CHYPS production this New Year. The audience can expect to see a traditional, family pantomime staged to a near-professional standard, and performed by an incredibly talented and high-energy teenage cast, many of whom are serious about performing arts as a career."

She added "They'll hear over twenty beautifully sung musical numbers, see spectacular dancing choreographed by a West End dancer, and hear music from a brilliantly talented live band. Beauty and the Beast is a wonderful family event for ages 3 to 103, and it'll have the audience laughing, crying, and dancing down the street at the end of the night!"

CHYPS cast members will be performing a demo of Beauty and the Beast at the switch on of the Wilmslow Christmas Lights this Saturday, 19th November.

Tickets for this year's Beauty and the Beast can be purchased at www.chypspanto.com.
