Volunteers spruce up Wilmslow street signs

Volunteers have come together to smarten up the signs on some of Wilmslow's streets.

Wilmslow Town Councillor Julie Dawn-Potts launched the "Adopt a Sign" initiative after identifying signs in the Chapel Lane area in need of a little TLC.

A team of 30 volunteers have worked together to freshen up the street signs – tidying up the greenery, applying a fresh lick of paint and adding new shrubbery.

Julie said: "I have been overwhelmed with the response from local residents which is still on going, who have seen the planters and therefore increasing the interest to get involved in this project."

She added "This has proved to be a very simple but effective way of not only getting the community involved and to take pride in where they live, but we think it certainly makes a wonderful visual difference to this little part of Wilmslow."

Additionally, working with Transition Wilmslow, Wilmslow In Bloom and Chapelwood, Cllr Potts helped to install new wooden planters on the Chapel Lane crossroads before the Health Centre. These will be filled in the coming weeks with a selection of medicinal herbs for all to enjoy.

It's a great improvement. Well done! It adds a bit of individual character to a street or road.
