Three police cars crash during training exercise on airport relief road

Shortly before 10.30am today (Tuesday 23rd June) three police cars collided on the A555 Manchester Airport Relief Road at Handforth.

The cars from Greater Manchester Police were taking part in a training exercise where they were implementing a containment tactic.

There are no reported injuries and an investigation is ongoing.

There is one lane closed on the westbound carriageway, which is due to reopen shortly.

They were in training Tony. Have you never made a mistake when learning a new skill? Isn’t it better that minor mistakes are made under these circumstances and not during a live containment, where the consequences could be far more serious .

But Yvonne is right, this is exactly why 'training' is carried out. No injuries reported, except for bruised pride!

I pity the police, whipping boys (and girls to be pc) for those of a malicious bent under the guise of humour/hidden agendae - perhaps the day is coming where they will say 'we are not paid enough to risk our lives in often irrationally violent circumstances for you slack aliases'. Viva anarchy!
