Commuters greeted with gifts on Valentines Day

Commuters traveller into Wilmslow and Handforth are greeted on Friday, 14th February, with a group of people who had gathered to show. their support of those that use to train.

At Wilmslow Station, volunteers from Transition Wilmslow were joined by members of Extinction Rebellion, and Climate Conscious Wilmslow, whilst Handforth commuters were greeted by some of Friends of Handforth Station.

The groups handed out Love Hearts and homemade gingerbread hearts as a symbol of love on Valentines Day to say thank you for helping to save the planet by using the train and not the car.

Andrew Backhouse, Chair of Transition Wlmslow said: "We know that train travel can be more hassle for some people than their cars, but when you look at the pollution and its effects on our health, particularly of children, and the wider damage to the planet from our overconsumption, you realise what a great thing you are doing for the planet by taking the train rather than the plane or car."
