A group of leading musculoskeletal (MSK) experts, athletes, physicians from professional sports teams, physiotherapists and GPs, celebrated the launch of a new cutting-edge healthcare facility, the OrthTeam Centre, which is a partnership with Spire Healthcare.

Elite athletes in attendance at the event, who have all been treated by an OrthTeam Consultant, included Paralympian Archer John Stubbs MBE, Team GB Runner Eilish McColgan, St. Helens R.F.C Prop Alex Walmsley and Team GB Diver and Red Bull Cliff Diver Aidan Heslop.

Based within Bruntwood Works' landmark Didsbury Technology Park, the OrthTeam Centre is a multi-million pound purpose-built private healthcare facility, which is situated next to Spire Manchester Hospital, creating a leading environment for diagnosis and treatment in health and sport.

OrthTeam is a group of highly-skilled consultants who work together to provide an integrated, multi-disciplinary team approach which ensures outstanding, personalised care for a wide range of patients; from professional and amateur athletes with sporting injuries, arthritis sufferers to complex spinal conditions.

OrthTeam Director, and Consultant Hand and Wrist Surgeon, Mike Hayton said: "I'm delighted to be part of the launch of the OrthTeam Centre and have so many of our healthcare and sports colleagues, and patients here to join us.

"Since formation in 2007, the OrthTeam has grown and developed to establish itself as one of the leading providers of MSK treatment and surgery in the UK, and it was a natural progression for us to have a bespoke facility. "We were delighted to partner with Spire Healthcare to create this, ensuring that our patients have easy access to outstanding inpatient, day case and other subspecialist support."

Spire Manchester Hospital Director, Andy Eadsforth added: "We are very proud to be part of this launch and to be working with the OrthTeam. We already have a great relationship with many of their consultants and now that the centre is open, it is a major boost for both the hospital and patients."
