Cheshire Youth Pantomime Society presents Aladdin

This year's pantomime by CHYPS (Cheshire Youth Pantomime Society) is Aladdin, which needs no introduction, especially following the recent Disney live-action remake.

Experienced pantomime director Sally Hunt said "We chose this pantomime because it has a fantastic, magical story with wonderful characters.

"My favourite character is the Genie of the Lamp. I just love his unique character that's completely larger than life. He's great fun, with two great songs to sing and is truly magical! We have a talented young actor Adam Byrne playing him who has absolutely no inhibitions about making the genie as over the top as possible."

Cheshire Youth Pantomime Society's pantos are especially written to appeal to teenagers with large casts, modern music and dramatic effects. The shows are professionally staged with a live teenage band.

Sally said "At every panto we like to have a special effects feature. This year is no exception and we have really gone big. We have moved away from painted backdrops and will be using an LED video wall which is going to look absolutely amazing!"

Ian Hunt, CHYPS chairman said "Music is a huge part of our pantos. The cast have been working really hard on the songs with their amazing vocal coach Jo Murray and with our award winning Musical Director, Alex Williams. We have a fantastic team helping to make this panto truly memorable."

Tickets have been selling extremely quickly this year. "Two shows have already sold out and there is limited availability for the others," said ticket secretary Jo Sharp. "Your best bet for good seats is actually New Year's Day. We think a family trip to the panto on New Year's Day would make a perfect end to the festive season!"

Aladdin runs from 1st to 4th January at the Woodford Community Centre. Performances start at 7pm (matinees 1.30pm). Tickets cost between £10 and £15 and can be booked online or by calling 07910 187583 or emailing [email protected].
