A 29-year-old woman from Wilmslow has been arrested on suspicion of wasting police time.
At around 11.30pm on Sunday, 20th October, police received a report of a serious assault in Clay Lane, Handforth.
Patrols were deployed to a local address after a female reported that she had stabbed someone. A siege went on for several hours but it was eventually deemed to be a hoax call.
A police spokesperson said "Officers attended and discovered that no-one had been assaulted. They subsequently arrested a woman from Wilmslow on suspicion of wasting police time.
"She has since been released under investigation pending further investigation."
