Gorsey Bank Primary celebrates glowing Ofsted report

Following an inspection by the education standards officers last month, Gorsey Bank is celebrating after receiving a very positive Ofsted report.

The school has been praised for the excellent behaviour and positive attitudes of pupils and noted how hard they work in lessons.

Pupils are 'proud of their school and are kind and considerate to each other'. They 'feel safe' and 'mix well together'. Pupils 'develop positive attitudes that enable them to make an effective contribution to school life'.

The school's leaders and teachers were praised for their 'highly successful' approach to 'well-organised' learning and their pride in the school. The report noted leaders' emphasis on e-safety and the mental health and well-being of pupils.

The report added that leaders make sure that all teachers are experts in the teaching of early reading.

It also stated: "There is enough evidence of improved performance to suggest that the school could be judged outstanding if we were to carry out a section 5 inspection now."

The section 8 inspection was one of the first in the country under the new Ofsted framework. Inspectors judged that the school remains 'good'. The report states: "We do not give graded judgements on a section 8 inspection. However, if we find some evidence that the school could now be better than good ... then the next inspection will be a section 5 inspection. Usually this is within one to two years of the date of the section 8 inspection."

Gorsey Bank Head of School Joe Maguire said: "We are delighted with this outcome and the feedback we received from our inspectors both during the inspection and as part of the report.

"The inspection was a real celebration of everything we collectively work so hard on. Our staff and pupils shone throughout the two days and the pride felt in the school by all stakeholders was clear.

"The focus of this inspection was very much on the quality of education and how we as a school nurture our pupils' personal development. It is hugely gratifying for us, therefore, that these elements have been recognised so positively alongside the continued exceptional academic achievements of our pupils at all stages of their time with us.

"We would like to thank our amazing staff, parents and above all our fantastic pupils for making Gorsey Bank the great school it is and we look forward to building on this success in the months and years to come."
