A 62-year-old man was assaulted in Wilmslow town centre on Friday, 19th July.
Shortly before 12 noon, officers were called to reports of an altercation involving two men in Water Lane, Wilmslow. They attended the scene and found that a 62-year-old man had been assaulted.
He was taken to hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
A police spokesperson said "A 24-year-old man from Swinton was arrested on suspicion of a section 47 assault in connection with the incident. He has since been released without charge.
"Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and anyone with any information that may be relevant to the investigation is asked to contact Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting IML 460633."
