10-year-old approached by suspicious man after school

Parents are being urged to highlight the importance of safety to their children when travelling to and from school following a suspicious incident in Alderley Edge on Wednesday, 26th June.

Shortly before 4pm a 10-year-old girl was walking along the cut through by St Phillips and St James Church when a man grabbed her shoulder from behind, but didn't speak to her.

She immediately went to her mum and told her what had happened.

Inspector Duncan Gouck said: "The girl did the correct thing by immediately telling her mum who then reported it to police.

"While we can't be sure what his intentions were, we would like to reassure the community that we have not had any other reports of a similar nature.

"If you do see suspicious activity please call police on 101."

Anyone with information relating to the suspicious incident should contact Cheshire Police on 101 or online quoting IML 438916. Alternatively information can be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
