As the result of an order made by Cheshire East Council a number of changes have been made to the taxi ranks in Wilmslow town centre, which have come in to effect today.
Whilst these changes have added some extra parking spaces in the town centre drivers need to take note where and when they park, particularly on the service road on Alderley Road, to avoid getting a ticket.
The taxi ranks and limited waiting restrictions on the service road outside 1-29 Alderley Road have been revoked and replaced with;
- Parking places outside the properties number 5-29, “limited waiting for 1 hour with no return within 1 hour, between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday”.
- A 15 metre long taxi rank operating from 6am to 6pm outside No.1-3 (Wildings Digital Camera Centre).
- A 40 metre long taxi rank operating from 6pm to 6am outside properties numbered 21-29 (Multi-York to Hoopers menswear).
The 10 metre long taxi rank outside Wilmslow Methodist Church on Water Lane has also been replaced with parking places “limited waiting for 1 hour with no return within 1 hour, between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday.”
Instead a new 35 metre long taxi rank operating from 6.30pm to 8am outside properties numbered 46 to 52 Water Lane has been introduced on the North side, from Job Centre Plus to the Slug and Lettuce, with “No waiting between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday” restrictions.
The existing 24 hour taxi rank in Church Street has remained unaltered.
