Award winning chef, Enzo Mauro from the restaurant and bar, Osteria Mauro in Mottram St Andrew, Prestbury, put his skills to good use but no cooking was required, just some tasty carrots for some deserving horses. The family-orientated Italian, inspired by his daughter’s love of horses, is planning several fundraising events to raise funds for Mid-Cheshire Riding for the Disabled.
Enzo visited the stables where he met up with the horses and the fantastic team of helpers and watched a lesson with riders from Inscape House in Cheadle. Inscape House provides support for children and young people with autistic spectrum disorders (ASDs).
This year Enzo is planning several events to fundraise for Riding for the Disabled, the first being a Ravioli Masterclass on the 11th of March, 6.00pm – 7.30pm, at Osteria Mauro restaurant in Mottram St Andrew. Get the chance to see Enzo the ‘Pasta Master’ make an array of fresh pasta, try your hand at making it yourself and of course eating some great dishes with a lovely glass of wine!
Mid-Cheshire Riding for the Disabled is based at New Barn Livery in Ollerton, and is headed up by Pamela Rigby. Both her and her team of voluntary helpers work hard to give local people from all walks of life, from children to the retired, a chance to ride horses, something Enzo and his team are keen to support.
Pam commented “Many local schools and organisations ride at the stables as well as individuals, they all benefit greatly from the experience. As a charity we are always delighted when people come along and support us financially, they, as well as all our voluntary helpers do such good work and make it all happen”.
Enzo agreed with Pam “My daughter used to love riding when she was young, so we have an interest in horses and here I can see just how good riding is for people with disabilities and how much the children enjoy themselves. I am proud to be able to help the Mid-Cheshire branch of Riding for the Disabled.”
