TV presenter Michelle Ackerley to host charity talk at her former school

TV presenter Michelle Ackerley is to host a talk about her career at her former school on Tuesday, 16th April.

Michelle, who still lives in Alderley Edge, is best known for her work on BBC programmes such as Watchdog Test House and The One Show, which has seen her interviewing some of the biggest names in film and television including Samuel L Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, Danny Boyle and Naomie Harris.

She also presents Council House Crackdown for BBC1 Daytime, which lifts the lid on social housing tenancy cheats, the new series of UKTV's Fantasy Homes by the Sea and is the roving reporter on Crimewatch Roadshow, where she can be seen getting involved in police riots, interviewing emergency service men and women and fully immersing herself in their worlds.

Michelle was educated at Alderley Edge School for Girls where she was Deputy Head Girl during her final year.

She said "I'm really looking forward to going back to where it all started' and added 'I think it's very important to inspire others to reach their potential and I'm looking forward to sharing my story."

Helen Jeys, Headmistress at Alderley Edge School for Girls, said "Michelle is one of many success stories that form our alumnae network and we are really pleased to welcome her back again this year."

Michelle is presenting this event to help support John Offord, a former colleague at the BBC who is running the London marathon in memory of his late father. John, the event organiser, asked if Michelle would help him run a fundraising event and she jumped at the chance having recently lost her father too.

Anyone wanting to book tickets can do so online. Tickets cost £6 each and all profits raised from this activity will help the charity Livability to tackle social isolation and the barriers that can cause this in the lives of disabled and vulnerable people.

The event will commence at 7pm at Alderley Edge School for Girls and refreshments available to purchase on the night.

Spaces are strictly limited and operated on a first come first served basis.

I had the pleasure of meeting Michelle when she was a "young lass". She had star written all over her then. Watch this space, there will be more to come from this up and coming young lady. Good luck.
