Styal resident to host his 18th Macmillan Coffee Morning on 65th birthday

A life-long resident of Styal is celebrating his 65th birthday this month by hosting his 18th Macmillan Coffee Morning.

Ian Jones enjoys meeting and talking to his neighbours so in 2000 he decided to hold a Macmillan Coffee Morning at his home to welcome new neighbours and raise money for a good cause.

The first coffee morning was so popular that the former parish councillor and Chair of Styal Village Association has carried on hosting this annual fund raising event and since 2000 has raised over £5,000 for Macmillan.

This year the Macmillan Coffee Morning falls on September 28th which is also Ian's 65th birthday so he is hoping friends and neighbours will attend as part of his celebrations.

Ian said "I decided to hold my first Macmillan Coffee Morning to welcome new neighbours and raise money for a good cause and continue to do so as so many people support every year. Our success is due to the home made cakes and preserves donated by friends and neighbours."

Tea and coffee will be served along and a selection of cakes baked locally by Ian's regular supporters will be on sale on Friday, 28th September, from 9am to 12 noon at 15 Oak Cottages in Styal.
