Legal proceeding are still underway to remove a group of travellers who set up camp on Council owned sports fields off Altrincham Road two weeks ago.
Travellers arrived at the Jim Evison Playing Fields, in Wilmslow, overnight on Tuesday, 21st August, and officers from Cheshire East Council visited the following day to undertake a welfare check and start the legal process.
Since then one group of travellers has left the site however more caravans have now joined so there are currently about 20 caravans parked on the playing fields.
A Cheshire East Council spokesperson said "We can confirm that legal proceedings are ongoing in relation to travellers at the Jim Evison Playing Fields, in Wilmslow, and a court order has sought on Thursday for their removal."
