Conservative Club gets a makeover

Regulars at The Conservative Club in Wilmslow will now be able to enjoy new surroundings after the club got its first revamp in more than 25 years.

Tatton MP Esther McVey cut the ribbon to mark the re-opening of the new lounge bar, before turning her hand at pulling a pint and enjoying a quick game of bowls on the green.

She said: "It was a fantastic evening and it was great to be able to spend time talking to everyone. This lounge holds so many memories for so many people and we look forward to creating more memories in our newly refurbished club house for generations to come."

People were also treated to cabaret entertainment by Emma James before tucking into a buffet.

The Grove Avenue site has been home to the club since it was founded in 1924 and the current club house was built in 1992.

Club Chairman Martin Mullen said: "The turnout has been great and everyone appears to have enjoyed a lovely evening. I'm sure our newly decorated lounge bar will provide a welcome to old and new members alike".
