Horse rescued from ditch in Wilmslow

Firefighters rescued a horse which became stuck in a dry ditch on Strawberry Lane today (Wednesday, 25th July).

One crew from Wilmslow Fire Station and the animal rescue units from Bollington and Lymm attended the in incident at 11.46am.

The 17 year old horse named Basil, was sedated by the vet, then firefighters along with the animal rescue unit used farming machinery and animal rescue equipment to dig around the horse to help release it from the mud.

Aww! Poor ol' Basil - I do hope the owners have ensured Basil (or anyone else, for that matter) can't get into this predicament again?
