Reader's Letter:Jodrell Bank Festival - unacceptable noise levels

Screen Shot 2018-07-23 at 14.12.45

It would be good to hear the views of local residents following most of the neighbourhood being kept awake most of the weekend and the peace being broken by the continued thudding of the bass coming from the concert/festival at Jodrell Bank.

Whilst in principal I am not against such events there seems to be total disregard to the neighbourhood and residents stretching miles from these events who have to endure this noise into the wee small hours - why any event needs to puimp load music out till 1am well into Monday morning and disturb people throughout a Sunday evening is beyond comprehension - no regard to families with small children, elderley people or the infirm is
given whatsoever.

How can the Councils justify giving licences to such events at Jodrell Bank and Capesthorne Hall without realising the noise levels which we are forced to endure which must be unlawful?

Aware of the bass notes on Wilmslow Park, but nothing that caused us any problems.
Noise levels are easy to monitor, with a sound meter. You can do it yourself, with a App on your iPhone. But what’s the chance that CEC were there doing it anyway obo of us Residents?

I fully support the Council in granting appropriate licences to events for the enjoyment of all but they must take responsibility for enforcing the conditions. If your councillor is not doing this then vote them out at the next election. Children and the elderly are part of a wider community and all of the community need to voice their suggestions for improvement

We live close by in Lower Withington. This local resident must have super powers! Yes the music was late into the night on Saturday night but was not overly loud and let's face it, the concert is once a year! It brings trade and focus to a wonderful part of Cheshire. We should be proud not churlish and nimby. Rejoice in the fact that we live in a lovely part of Cheshire and welcome others to share it.

Stephen,

Surely you were young once? I’m sure that 2 nights each year put aside to allow people to enjoy themselves isn’t such a bad thing....maybe you could even join in, unless it’s past your bedtime!
