Firefighters were called to reports of a house fire on Wilmslow Park South at 12.22pm on Thursday, 5th July.

Two fire engines attended from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service. On arrival crews found the fire involved the roof of a detached property which was well alight.

Crews isolated all of the gas and electricity at the scene and then used four breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to tackle the fire. They then used a large fan to clear all of the smoke from within the property. The fire is believed to have started in the bathroom.

The team were at the scene for approximately one hour and 15 minutes. The cause of the fire is not believed to be suspicious.

Later that day firefighters were called to reports of a fire in the open in Sunbury Close in Wilmslow.

On arrival at 6.40pm the crew discovered that the fire involved tree cuttings with a mattress on top of them. Firefighters used water to extinguish the fire and were in attendance for around half-an-hour.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately. Anyone with any information about the incident should call police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
