A team of cheerleaders from Wilmslow High School have won the UK schools championships.

Wilmslow Stars consisted of twenty-nine students from Years 8 to 11 and twenty-one Year 7 students who were competing for the first time. The Year 7s took part in the KS3 Level 1 cheerleading category and the Year 8-11 in the KS4 Level 3 cheerleading category.

Miss Hatt was proud to watch them showcase their routine for the first time.

She said "Poppy Preston impressed the crowd so much that the assistant coaches rewarded her with The Wilmslow Stars Cheerleading Spirit Award!

"The Year 8-11 girls performed their best routine yet. This would be Molly Andrew's final time on the floor with the Wilmslow Squad, and she was desperate to end her time with the team on a high.

"The Year 7 Level 1 team received a 4th place trophy at their first ever competition, with all girls excited to come back next year. Overall the Judges announced Wilmslow Stars as 1st place winners!

"All girls were a credit to themselves and the school, demonstrating excellent sportsmanship throughout the day."
