Young fundraisers scale new heights

An eight year old boy with a big personality has completed his latest challenge to help poorly children.

Joseph Hibbert from Handforth has been raising money for children's hospitals since the age of three and on Saturday, 23rd June, he put on his hiking boots again to make his way up Snowdon, the tallest mountain in Wales.

He was delighted to be joined by six of his friends: William and Joshua Clark, Leeson and Lilli Sheldon and Arthur and Lila Scrase who between them raised over £7100 for Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Charity, which works hard to make a difficult time a little bit easier for young and old.

His mum Shelley said "Joseph was thrilled to have much better weather this time and to enjoy it with his friends.

"We currently have over 25 children wanting to take part in next years challenge which is Joseph's 3rd peak Scafell Pike. That number is still going up and Joseph's school are also looking at getting involved to support him."

So far Joseph has run seven races for charity and last year he swapped his running shoes for hiking boots to climb Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in the UK, and raised over £6000 for charities.

So far Joseph has raised over £10,000 for charities. If you would like to support Joseph's fundraising efforts donations can be made via his JustGiving page.
