Royal London's move to Alderley Park a step closer

Royal London's move from the current site at Alderley Road, Wilmslow to Alderley Park has taken a major step forward.

The firm has now signed the contract on the new premises which means the building is now owned by Royal London. The detailed design for the inside of the building has also now been signed off.

Royal London will now be able to appoint a contractor to begin the works, ahead of occupying the building during 2019.

Clare Ashley, Senior Project Manager for the Parklands project at Royal London, said "Signing contracts on Parklands is an important next step in the process of establishing new offices for our expanding workforce in Cheshire East. The workforce have worked hard on the design for the inside of the building to make sure our people have a modern office environment in which to work."

Peter Crowther of Alderley Park, said: "We are very pleased to reach this milestone. Parklands is not only a great place to work, it also benefits from everything Alderley Park has to offer such as an onsite gym, walking and running routes, restaurant and conference centre and we are looking forward to welcoming the Royal London team to our community."

Royal London were granted planning permission in 2016 for a new office development at their Alderley Road campus. However, in October 2017 - having considered a range of options for the future - the company announced it would be moving out of Wilmslow.

In November 2017, Royal London submitted two planning applications for homes at its site on Alderley Road.

The first application is for up to 60 homes on land opposite the Royal London Campus, to the west of Alderley Road and the second application is for 120 homes, along with the access roads and landscaping, on the northern part of Royal London campus.

Both applications were approved by the Strategic Planning Board in March 2018 subject to the completion of a Section 106 Agreement.
