Wilmslow teen reaches grand final of national singing competition

A 16-year-old singer from Wilmslow has made it through to the grand final in a youth musical theatre competition in London.

In October 2017, Mia Connor auditioned for West End Calling, judged by west end stars, and she was selected to go through to the next round performing in Manchester to a sold out audience in the heats.

Then on February 25th, Mia performed at the Stockwell Playhouse in London in the semi-final and was delighted to be chosen to go through to the grand final which will be held on the May 27th at Andrew Lloyd Webber's newest theatre, the Other Palace.

Mia sang She's Not Me from the musical In The Light and was one of only 12 contestants, all aged between 8 and 21, to be hand picked by judges; Scott Paige (Made In Dagenham, Eugenius, The Addam's Family), Daniel Buckley (The Book Of Mormon, Eugenius, Loserville) and Emily Tierney (Wicked, The Wizard Of Oz, Ghost the Musical).

She said "I am very excited to be taking part again in West End Calling this year, after reaching the final last year. I have really enjoyed taking part and have learnt so much from the judges and other contestants and am very grateful for the opportunity.

"I love to sing and I am at my happiest getting the opportunity to do that in front of a live audience along side other great competitors."

Mia will compete in the final of West End Calling which will be split into two parts – the Junior final (9-15) and the senior final (16-21) – performing in front of an audience made up of industry professionals, agents, casting directors and members of the public.
