Two men arrested following burglary at Handforth off-licence


Officers from Macclesfield CID are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a burglary at an off-licence in Handforth.

At approximately 2.20am on Monday, 16th April, officers were called to reports of suspicious activity at the GoLocal Store on Plumley Road, Handforth.

Officers attended the scene and found that four men had forced entry into the store and stolen a quantity of cigarettes, alcohol and cash.

Two men have since been arrested by officers from Greater Manchester Police in relation to the incident. They are currently in police custody assisting officers with their enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Angela Coppock said: "Investigations in relation to this incident are currently in the early stages and we are following a number of lines of enquiry.

"This incident has caused concern in the local community and we're committed to doing all that we can to trace the people responsible.

"As part of the investigation I'm keen to hear from anyone who was in the local area at the time of this incident and believes that they may have seen anything suspicious."
