Aldeli leaps into spring

Despite the cold winter weather dragging on and on, we are leaping into spring with a fresh new menu both in the Deli and in the Texaco Petrol station "food to go" items.

In the Deli we have introduced to the menu our interpretation of various "Earth Bowls" or "Buddha Bowls." These can easily be described as hearty, filling dishes made of different greens, raw or roasted veggies, pulses and a healthy grain. With so many food intolerances and dietary preferences today, we have created these dishes to provide wholesome and healthy options which are gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian.

That said, by no means have we sold out on the likes of our hot pastrami Reuben or home pickled salt beef, both served on homemade rye bread; we have to put the mother's baking to a good use!

The rye bread and sourdough that we use is all homemade, as well as our classic frangipani, fruit scones and banana/lemon loaf cakes.

However, it is our chef that has been experimenting recently with different vegan and gluten free cakes that are certainly to look out for! If you don't see any out - just ask!

If you haven't tried the sandwiches in the Texaco Petrol station next door - you don't know what you are missing. We make a variety of "deep fill" sandwiches and wraps three times a day and are now introducing a new line of "healthy to go items."

Watch out for our spring special wraps: smoked salmon, spinach and poached egg plus hummus and falafel.
