Silent movie magic for all the family

Donald Mackenzie

Wilmslow will once again host its own cinema, complete with an organ and organist on Saturday 21st April when St.Bartholomew's Church will be screening the Buster Keaton silent screen classic "The Cameraman".

The film will be accompanied by a live soundtrack from the celebrated cinema organist Donald Mackenzie from the Odeon Cinema in Leicester Square, London.

Organist Philip Underwood said "Essentially a romantic comedy with a great many laugh out loud visual gags the plot of The Cameraman also takes in the filming of the outbreak of a Tong War (a violent dispute between rival Chinese Tong factions) giving Donald the opportunity to showcase the many "moods" of our magnificent new pipe organ."

Donald Mackenzie began his long association with the Odeon Cinema, Leicester Square in July 1992 by playing the famous Compton organ for a number of events including a preview of 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'Chaplin'. He was appointed House Organist and has appeared regularly at Film Premieres, special events and organ concerts.

He has broadcast from the Odeon on BBC Radios 2, 3, 4 and the World Service. Donald has played for numerous Royal Film Performances, star studded Premiere and Gala opening nights including five in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen.

Admission is free, there will be a retiring collection, and bring your own popcorn!

The film will commence at 3pm and last approximately 75 minutes, guests are advised to arrive early as seating is on a first come basis.
