2018 Waters Wilmslow Half Marathon on course for June

Having taken the decision to cancel the 2018 Waters Wilmslow Half Marathon organisers have been working hard to reschedule the event for June.

The race, which was due to set off from Wilmslow Rugby Club at 10.30am on Sunday, 18th March, was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.

A spokesperson for the Race Committee said "We know how disappointing this was for all of you that have entered and trained so hard. For this reason, the committee has been working over the last 48 hours to secure a new date and put in place options for our runners to be able to make the most of the new date or to transfer their entry, should they need to."

The 2018 Waters Wilmslow Half Marathon will now take place on Sunday, 24th June.

If you have a race number and would like to run on the new date of 24th June then your existing entry (and race number) will carry over to the new date.

If you were due to collect your running number on the morning of the race and would like to run on the new date of 24th June then the organisers will keep your race number safe and it will be available for collection from the helpdesk on the morning of the race.

Nearer to the event date you will be sent an email with full instructions for the new race day and with confirmation of your running number so that you can claim your profile in their live tracker.

If you cannot make the new date, the organisers have set up a Facebook group to provide a place for people who wish to transfer/sell their number to another runner. They will direct all new entry enquiries here first to make sure that those who cannot make the new date have the best possible chance to transfer their number to another runner.

For this reason the race will not be open for new entries online until Monday 16th April.

Due to the cost incurred in postponing an event of this scale and in line with their terms and conditions, the organisers are unable to offer refunds.

How Sad for all involved, competitors and organisers alike ! .. I have just a little knowledge of the level of organisation and individual / team commitment that goes on behind the scenes to get this fabulous flagship event for our town in place , I know there will be a lot of disappointment. 'Snow days' in the working week is one thing but weekend ! and in Spring !! .... sadly we all now lose out from this fantastic spectacle... Hopefully it can re rearranged, will have to wait for the official statement.

CEC might have filled in the potholes by June ensuring the safety of runners but there again don't hold your breath.
